Finding a great hairdresser who understands you and your hair is vital to how you look and most importantly, your wellbeing. What I mean about well-being is I think we all have had a hairdressing horror story so we know how important this relationship is. It can be quite costly when you are having to have your colour, cut, and blow wave done every 4-5 weeks, so how do you find a great hairdresser? I always say, when you see someone’s hair that you love, whether it is their colour or cut or both, ask them who does their hair. Book for a consultation and see how you feel. Having a hairdresser that understands and listens to you and your lifestyle needs, is vital to your look. Your hairdresser, should be looking after the condition of your hair and they should also be offering new ideas for your hair every now and then, otherwise, you risk having the same look for too long and that can cause a feeling of ‘I’m so bored with my hair’. If your hairdresser just keeps giving you the same look and never suggests something new, then maybe that relationship has done its time. Your hairdresser should be excited about doing your hair and every time you should walk out of the salon feeling amazing. I always say that if you have an event and can’t afford a new outfit or you are feeling tired and need something to lift your spirits, always go and have a blow-dry, I can guarantee you will feel like a new woman. I always do when I leave the salon.
A trip to the hairdressers to get your colour and cut done can be a lengthy experience. For me, it is a three-hour visit, and it’s a time I absolutely treasure. Biba is the salon I choose to go to and has the little touches that make my visits special. I arrived yesterday and it was a really cold day, and I mentioned this to my hairdresser Louise Pilkington, and instantly I was given a cuddly soft blanket to wrap around me. The drink selection is varied with delicious teas to choose from and I love the little card that is on the tray with an inspirational message for you for that day.
Their magazine choice is current and there is a great selection to choose from. What I appreciate is Brooke who colours my hair, knows that sometimes I feel chatty and sometimes I just want to be quiet and read a magazine- a good hairdresser understands this and allows you the freedom to choose how you communicate on any given appointment.
The head massage at any salon is so important to me. Joseph(in the pic) massaging my head, has magic hands!. I know he has a God-given gift and Divine work is being done. Thank you, Joseph.
The salon has the usual hair care products available for purchase, but Biba also sells has the range of the delicious teas they serve and I had to purchase one the t-shirts with my favourite word on it- LOVE
Finally, you should leave the salon feeling amazing, confident and happy. Thank you Louise Pilkington and the team at Biba for making me feel like this. Biba 132B Hinemoa Street, Birkenhead Point, Auckland. 09 4800 099
